Sparklean Satellite Lead Cleaner (SLC) Caveats

As the company expands farther than a drive-able distance from our office in Roseville, MN we will be hiring “Satellite Lead Cleaners.” In this document we want to describe the different responsibilities that this person will have and the potential situations that this person could experience.

WILLING TO TRAVEL

Depending on your distance from Roseville, you may have the opportunity to add hours to your schedule by being willing to travel to another location on a day to day basis. (Normally, your commute from and to your home is not paid. But if you’re agreeing to work much farther from home than your normal area, part of your commute will be paid. During your orientation, you and management will determine together a landmark that you’ll use as the place where you clock in to non-cleaning time and start recording mileage. Also during your orientation, we would like to know as closely as possible, what time we could expect you in another location. Aka, “I drop kids off as school at 830am in Northfield, so I can be in Roseville as early as 9:15am”

TRAINING

Depending on your distance from Roseville there are several options and many possible combinations for how your training may be completed. If you’re willing to drive, 1) Your training will happen at houses in the Twin Cities metro area, 2) At houses in your area and another trainer or manager will come to you, or 3) You may do the majority of your training online.

LAUNDRY

SLCs will be responsible for washing cleaning rags after every shift. You’ll be provided with only one “set” of rags, which is enough for 3 houses. So, the ability to wash laundry almost every day will be critical to this role. All rags should be washed in hot water with NO FABRIC SOFTENER OR DRYER SHEETS as the wax from these products will ruin the fibers of the rags and make them leave streaks/haze on glass. If you accidentally wash your your rags with softener or dry them with dryer sheets, you will need to wash them 2-3 times in hot water and white vinegar to remove all of the waxes present in softeners/dryer sheets.

SUPPLIES

SLCs will be provided with an entire “set” of equipment - vacuum, duffel bag and caddy. You’ll be responsible for the care and cleaning of these supplies. Refilling and replacing any equipment will be done at the office in Roseville if your location is within a 45 minute drive. You’ll be required to come to the office once per week. This will also give you a chance to check your mailbox and to chat with coworkers. If there is an equipment emergency, such as a broken vacuum or mop, please notify managers immediately and they will determine the best course of action, whether that is delivering you the necessary supplies, purchasing and having it delivered to you, having you purchase or pick up supplies from a local retailer (and be reimbursed for any expenses) , or rescheduling the house(s) you were scheduled for until the proper supplies are available.

WORKING SOLO OR WITH A PARTNER

Until each location adds more and more clients, it is possible that you’ll be working by yourself to clean some houses. Then as the clientele in the area increases, we will hire another person to clean with you. You will not necessarily be responsible for all of this person’s initial training, but their ongoing training and development will largely be your responsibility.

AVAILABILITY

As a SLC, if you are starting here at Sparklean with limited availability, such as 2 days per week. We would like to know ahead of time how much notice you would need if we wanted to increase your availability per week (as we add clients to your area).
